Background of the Study

Oncology care often requires a collaborative approach involving various healthcare professionals, including oncologists, nurses, dietitians, psychologists, and social workers. Multidisciplinary teams have been shown to improve patient outcomes through integrated care plans. This study will evaluate the impact of multidisciplinary team approaches on the quality of oncology nursing care at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

This study aims to examine how the integration of a multidisciplinary team approach affects oncology nursing care delivery and patient outcomes.

Objectives of the Study

1. To assess the effectiveness of multidisciplinary team approaches in enhancing oncology nursing care.

2. To explore how the collaborative efforts of various professionals improve the quality of care for cancer patients.

3. To evaluate the impact of teamwork on patient satisfaction and overall treatment outcomes in oncology nursing care.

Research Questions

1. How does a multidisciplinary team approach impact the quality of oncology nursing care?

2. What are the benefits of collaboration between oncology nurses and other healthcare professionals in patient care?

3. How does multidisciplinary care influence patient outcomes in oncology settings?

Research Hypotheses

1. A multidisciplinary team approach significantly improves the quality of oncology nursing care.

2. Collaboration among healthcare professionals in oncology settings enhances patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

This study will focus on the oncology nursing care provided at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and examine the effects of multidisciplinary team collaboration. Limitations may include varying team dynamics, differences in healthcare worker training, and the complexity of measuring the effectiveness of collaboration in healthcare.
